Talk Title: Using phosphoproteomics to study signaling dysregulation in neurodevelopmental and neurodegenerative diseases.

Abstract: Cellular signaling networks play an essential role in brain function and are commonly mediated by protein phosphorylation. Using mass spectrometry, we have quantified protein phosphorylation changes in models of Rett’s syndrome and Alzheimer’s disease. This phosphoproteome allows us to link cellular phenotypes, such as synaptic deficits or glial responses, to the dysregulation of the kinases and phosphatases coordinating them. We hope that by understanding which signaling pathways are disrupted in brain development and aging, we may be able to identify new treatments for patients.
