Super-Resolution Imaging of Synaptic Proteins and their Roles in Synaptic Plasticity

Biographical information

Philipp studied organic chemistry in Würzburg, Germany. As an undergrad he worked with Gerhard Bringmann on the total synthesis of the two anti-leishmanial isoquinolinium alkaloids Ancistrocladinium A and B. He then joined the group of Dirk Trauner at the Ludwig-Maximilians University (LMU) Munich. During his Ph.D., which he received in December 2012, Philipp worked on such diverse projects as reengineering glutamate receptors, designing small photoswitchable molecules to control their function both in vitro and in vivo, and the total synthesis of the two natural products Herquline A and B.
