Many individuals with autism have well-documented difficulties in domains such as face processing and executive function, but specific intervention in these areas is limited. By taking a targeted approach to intervention, we have an opportunity to understand the nature and stability of these difficulties and their relation to other symptoms. This approach also benefits from having better-defined measurements of treatment response at the behavioral and neural level. I will share our work in developing targeted interventions and discuss ways in which these interventions may complement other available treatments.
